Varroa mites can rapidly weaken bee colonies and cause serious long-term damage if not treated correctly.
Based on infestation severity, season, and hive condition, we provide two treatment pathways:
Organic (Oxalic Acid) Treatment β suitable for controlled or lower-level infestations
Chemical Treatment β faster, stronger, and more effective Varroa control
β οΈ Treatment suitability is determined after assessment to ensure the best outcome for your hive.
Oxalic acid treatment is an organic, residue-free method that does not affect honey harvest.
It works gradually and therefore requires multiple applications to suppress Varroa mite levels effectively.
A minimum of 3 treatments is required
A single treatment will not provide long-term control
Best suited for maintenance or lower-pressure infestations
No impact on honey
Gentle on bees
Organic method
This service is oxalic acid vapourisation only.
It is a targeted treatment using organic oxalic acid vapour to help suppress Varroa mite levels.
β οΈ Please note:
This service does not include hive inspection or hive opening
Vapourisation only
Within 25km: $25
Over 25km: $50
π Distance is calculated from our base location.
β οΈ Multiple visits are required for effective Varroa control.
Chemical treatment is recommended when Varroa mite levels are moderate to high, or when rapid control is required.
Compared to organic methods, chemical treatment:
Acts much faster
Has a higher success rate
Is more effective for suppressing heavier infestations
$150 per hive (within 25km of Ringwood)
Outside 25km: additional $75 travel fee
Chemical treatments may still require:
Follow-up visits
Correct timing for treatment removal (where applicable)
The specific chemical used depends on:
Mite infestation level
Season and brood cycle
Hive condition
For beekeepers seeking strong, reliable, year-round protection, we offer a 12-month Varroa Protection Plan.
β οΈ This annual plan uses CHEMICAL TREATMENT ONLY.
Organic (oxalic acid) vapourisation is not included in this plan.
Chemical treatment offers a significantly higher probability of fast and effective Varroa control, making it the most reliable option for long-term hive protection and reinfestation prevention.
Ongoing monitoring and follow-up checks as required
Chemical treatment applied whenever Varroa pressure is detected
Proactive hive protection throughout the year
Queen replacement if queen failure is identified (replacement queen included)
$25 per visit (within 25km)
$50 per visit (over 25km)
Vapourisation only, no inspection
Minimum 3 visits recommended
$150 per hive
Faster and more effective Varroa control
$280 per year
Chemical treatment only
Monitoring + treatment as required
Queen replacement included if failure occurs
Treatment type is determined after assessment
Heat treatment is currently unavailable
All treatments are carried out by trained and experienced beekeepers
